In Beijing Lugouqiao Township, a Reading Club was established in November 2016. A wide range of participants from the grassroots government and the community are encouraged to participate in the club.

By 2018, club members have expanded from about 40 to more than 100. In 2017, the Reading Club focused on understanding the transformation of rural villages and advocated “reading a book every month”. In 2018, the book club focuses on “elevating the spirit and strengthening cultural self-confidence” and intends to set up a reading club in each community.
