Urban Renewal and Redevelopment Strategies in Hong Kong
 

Speaker: TANG Bo-sin, Professor, Department of Urban Planning and Design, The University of Hong Kong

Professor TANG Bo-sin will discuss the aging problem of the old urban areas in Hong Kong, some main approaches, implementation mechanisms, difficulties and challenges of urban renewal and reconstruction, as well as the future development direction.

​

Professor Tang is an honorary professor of the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Urban Renewal Authority of Hong Kong. He has joined the University of Hong Kong in 2012 and served as a professor and director of the Master of Urban Planning program. Before joining the University of Hong Kong, he has served as a professor and deputy director of the Department of Architecture and Real Estate at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prof. Tang holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Prof. Tang is a fellow of Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), member of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP), member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); member of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences of UK.
